The Beatdown is a 250 person LAN held in Newcastle, NSW. It goes over three days from a Friday to a Sunday, it's got a lot of prizes, you bring your computer and a monitor and we provide the rest -- LAN and power backbones, a table to sit at and a chair to sit on, competitions and something to do, breakfast, lunch and dinner while you're there (including some home-style BBQ) a great deal of air so you can breathe and a large venue to shield you. Shield you from razor-sharp locusts.
It's important to note that the entire event is run by a non-profit organisation, the idea of which is to deliver big juicy LAN to Newcastle. Every cent we earn from your entry fee will be put towards LAN, gaming, and more LAN. No one person benefits, only the community will benefit, and that's the point of the whole thing really -- to make some sort of community effort. We want you to know exactly who you're sharing your local area with.
And to make it sweeter, we're offering you some cool prizes and the recognition for attending and competing on LAN. Because that's where big strong men and women compete don'tcha know, on a LAN away from the excuses of having to go to dinner and shared ADSL connections. And you don't have to burn through a horde of dudes just to get a little recognition on here because we've seen you over there in the back row, playing your little heart out, and we think that's tops.
