Greetings fellow gamers! With recent events (read: renovations on my house) and other misc (read: other misc) happenings lately I've been thinking a lot more about front page posts as opposed to actually doing them, however it is indeed time that I put one together in hope that the site doesn't fall into complete inactivity in this seemingly forever-long time without LAN.
First and foremost, I would like to herald to you all that my official seal of epic win is now on the events being run 5 (FIVE!) nights a week by Aussie Cyber Games (ACG). Myself, perverse and Impulse headed on down to Newcastle Panthers on Friday night and had a blast knocking back beers and playing games (and watching others get up to play too!). For any of you that aren't away, ACG travel around with the full band music games (Guitar Hero World Tour, Rockband, Rockband 2) and set them up on a stage with monitors for each instrument and a projector etc. People make a band and bands take turns playing songs while everyone else rocks along sinking piss! They also setup Wii Sports and a bunch of other games on a second projector. They have prize givaways, and soon to be starting their Halo tournament and also Battle Of The Bands on Valentines days (not sure how smart that idea was...) - any guys, it's a great night out and I'd really like to see their attendance grow and get a much bigger crowd there!
Onto the next order of business.. the question that's on everyones lips right now "when is the next LAN?". I have literally been asked this 20+ times in the last week, and yes.. I can take a hint, I know you guys are hungry for LAN! Preliminary plans have started is about all I can say at this point, we don't have a date, we've got no sure thing to say - but I personally am greared up for it and want to see one in the next couple of months, after this summer heat dies down specifically.
A few of you may have noticed the tomfoolery on the forums lately in the form of bots and spam about porn/viagra. Well, despite what the official website (which recovering from being attacked, lol) says, obviously somethings gone wrong cause I'm now deleting (and banning by IP) approximately 20+ new accounts per day by these fucking bots. It's getting on my nerves and I haven't had the time to investigate a fix, so if anyone else uses phpbb3 and is copping this kind of shit... let me know if you have a solution!
The L4D league is kicking along alright, with only 1 team dropping out after round 1, and another joining in round 2. Round 1 saw some major separation in skills, however round 2 looks much more evening matched. Still looking for many more teams, who are free to join the league at any time! If you need a team, post in the recruitment forum.. if you've got a team but don't think you're that good - enter anyway! It's all just a bit of fun, but playing with 3 mates in an organized match is always better than playing pub.
I'll sign off this post with a very non-descript statement that there is much more in the pipeline for Playtopia, but things move slowly... hopefully one day it will all come to fruition! Stay tuned.
