I'm not sure how many of you will be attending SGL tomorrow, but it's not looking like a bad day of LAN now that 240 people have registered seats and there is a small pool of reserves collecting at the base of the sign-up list. If their games list didn't pique your interest the first time around, well first up you're going to hate our LAN; but SGL are set to host the World Cyber Games Guitar Hero 3 playoff which should be good to watch as GH3 is the prime spectator sport as far as video games go. If nothing else, anyone with excellent Counter-Striking skills and in the market for a new Logitech G15 should definately look at attending this weekend. On the topic of Sydney however, it is prime for a segue into Atomic Live 2008 as October rolls into view.
Whether you've seen Atomic Magazine at your local newsagency or not you should go and have a quick look at their site when you get a chance. Australia just isn't home to as many gaming conventions as the ones you can find on any street corner in the Americas - and at this time we definately have more than enough gaming culture down here to throw at least a convention or two, so this is a good chance to attend one if you are curious about technology, gaming, and have a Saturday all to yourself in the next 2 weeks. Of course any chance to cosplay for some people would be reason enough to attend, and for everybody else, Far Cry 2 is on the cards for a demonstration.
Not to mention I liked Karl Kruszelnicki before now but this gets me to another level altogether.
In case you didn't know already MMOs are the spawn of the devil and the anti-thesis of LANs altogether. So you can see how this is something I really didn't want to cover on here - ever - but it's about just how damn good Warhammer Online is. And in all honesty italics doesn't do it justice because I really need to talk about JUST HOW DAMN GOOD WARHAMMER ONLINE IS. I've been watching other people play it and I find myself asking what that there button does, and in what situation you would find yourself hitting it, not to mention what combat mechanics make such a move viab-wait, it's an MMORPG.
Deep breaths. Deep breaths.
